Asmodean’s Killer

Asmodean’s killer was Shaidar Haran, I believe this for many reasons.

wotmania says: I hate to be difficult, but here it is. Demandred was surprised to see Shaidar Haran in the beginning of Lord of Chaos, so I doubt he had been around for a very long time. Also, do you think one of the Forsaken would be afraid of a Myrddraal’s eyeless gaze? My biggest problem, of course, is Jordan’s assertion that we knew everything necessary up through The Fires of Heaven , and Shaidar Haran did not appear until Lord of Chaos.

"Rider" on Quarry Road

I noticed wotmania mentioned "My biggest problem, of course, is Jordan’s assertion that we knew everything necessary up through The Fires of Heaven , and Shaidar Haran did not appear until Lord of Chaos." Did RJ say Shaidar Haran didn't appear 'til Lord of Chaos? I always wondered who that "rider" was at the beginning of Charpet 1 of The Eye of the World. "The rider's cloak covered him to his boot tops, the cowl tugged well forward so no part of him showed. Vaguely Rand thought there was something odd about the horseman, but it was the shadowed opening of the hood that fascinated him. He could see only the vaguest outlines of a face, but he had the feeling he was looking right into the rider's eyes. And he could not look away. Queasiness settled in his stomach. There was only shadow to see in the hood, but he felt hatred as sharply as if he could see a snarling face, hatred for everything that lived. Hatred for him most of all, for him above all things." I've heard some say it was Ishamael, but could it be Shaidar Haran?

Not Likely

...There's not really any indication that the mysterious rider was nything other than a typical Myyrdral. And I don't think it can be argued that a fade introduced at the very beginning of book 1 would be 'obvious' as the killer.

Sooner or later it all connects back to itself.

she meant every time she relived her one trip, it was the same.

My two cents is on Isam/Luc. We know the Forsaken hire him and that he can appear out of thin air as he did when he killed the "two Aes Sedai in Tear"(Winter's Heart, Out of Thin Air, p 44

I also find it strange that Asmodean, upon seeing his killer, exclaimed "You!." I don't think he would address another Forsaken in that fashion.

why it "may" not make sense

RJ says that it should be obvious when you read about his death. That isn't abvious at all. You don't think hey he just died, it must have been haran Shaidar Haran.
