Rand and Elayne

Posted by Aura on 23.01.01 00:00

I read on one of the theories posted here that Nynaeve might be the one to help Rand at the final battle with the Dark One. I agree that she might be there to Heal him but I think Elayne will play a bigger role on that day. I got this idea while rereading A Crown of Swords. At the beginning of that book when Alviarin is speaking to Elaida, Elaida has a Foretelling. And then Jordan goes on to explain that Elaida attached herself to the Royal House of Andor because she had had another Foretelling long ago that the key to winning the Last Battle lay there.

Now, we do know that Rand's mother was Taringail who would have ruled if she hadn't left. So technically Rand is connected to the royals as much as Elayne. And they can both wield the Power very well. And it seems to be a forgone conclusion that both men and women of that nature are needed at Shayol Ghul. And also Elayne is picking up a lot about Ter'angreal which I am sure will come in handy at the end. So I think that Rand and Elayne have a destiny far greater than to merely fall in love.

wotmania says: Elaida’s Foretelling could easily be looked at two different ways, and I think you hit them both - Rand and/or Elayne will be important at the Last Battle. I am not sure how exactly Elayne’s ability to make ter’angreal might work into this, but it probably will somehow. I am also going to go out on a limb and say Rand might be important at the Last Battle as well...

Rand will marry Elayne first

I think that Rand will marry Elayne first because she is pregnant with his child. In Randland having premarital sex is frowned apoun, so i think getting someone pregnant will be considered really bad. Besides Elayne is not a regular person she is the future queen of Andor. It would be inapproite of her to have a child out of wedlock. I think that as soon as she tells Rand he will want to marry her. And also i dont think that eventually he will marry Min and Aviendha too. I think now that Elayne is pregnant Morgase and Lini will somehow find their way back to Andor. Well if not Morgase then at least Lini because we herd her say that she intends to raise Elayne's babies too.

about Elaida's Fortelling

Posted by MasteroftheDice on 24.06.01 00:21
That fortelling of Elaida's you mentioned first, I always got the impression that it refered to Tigraine. As I recall, the Foretelling said that the world would depend on the ruling house of Andor. And a son born of that house ends up being the Dragon Reborn. Can't get much more important than that.
It tends to reason that the best explanation is always the simplest.

yup.

i always thought the foretelling referred to the royal house of andor at the time elaida made her fortelling (which was 25 years ago, which was a couple years before tigraine went to the waste to become a maiden). i think basically, elaida's just had the wrong idea over what it means for the last quarter century.

Interesting

I think that is interesting, although I think that Rand probably could find out a lot about angreal etc from good ol

Elayne's purpose

Aren't the seals terangreal? That explains Elayne's purpose in the Last Battle quite nicely, seh will be the one to develop a new and better seal.

Choedan kal

i think that when the last battle comes one of the keys to the big statues might be broken, and it will be Elayne that makes a new one.

just a thought

If you know the name, you read WH. If you read WH, you know the female access key is already broken. There is also a broken access key in the Panarch's Palace in Tanchico. Egwene picked it up in T'A'R, and Lanfear mentioned its existence when Rand found the male key. Perhaps studying the access key(s) would give Elayne insight on creating new angreal and sa'angreal. It is a ter'angreal, which she already understands, but it functions like, and is connected to, sa'angreal.

elaida's foretelling was about rand, because of his lineage. but maybe your'e right, elaida only mentioned the royal line, not getting any more specific, and elayne is daughter-heir now. maybe they both play a big role.

taringail???

uhhh... it's tigraine.

hot damn.

Given that Elaida's reaction to her Foretellings are alway ironic....

Elaida's reaction to her Foretellings are alway ironic (e.g. Foretelling Egwene's victory and thinking that it's her own or Foretelling that the AS will walk the grounds of the BT and thinking that that meant its destruction), I think that it's quite clear that the Foretelling that the Royal House of Andor would be the key to the last battle is about Rand. I don't think that you can get anymore of a ket figure than Rand. And it makes it so that Elaida "wasted" twenty years of her life in an attempt to tie herself to House Trakand in order to prepare for TG.

wotmania, I absolutely LOVE your side comment about the POSSIBILITY of Rand being important at the Last Battle !!!!!
